Shanghai Shipping Exchange

Hello
Pls be advised that the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (similar in function to the American FMC) has decided to implement their own version of Container Liner Freight Filing in order to ensure fair pricing for the regulated lines.
This new requirement of the Chinese Ministry of Trade will take effect starting February 15th, 2014.
In order to regulate the pricing activities of international container transport, all Carriers need to file all of their rates FROM China with the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE).
As ZIM strives to comply with all regulations set out by local Customs Authorities  we would like to advise all our Customers of the following

·       The Carrier is allowed to enter into a contract only with the actual cargo owner or an NVOCC which has been registered with the Chinese Ministry of Transport.
·       The filing of a new rate or contract can take a few days to complete with the Shanghai Shipping Exchange. Customers are asked to take this into consideration when placing their bookings accordingly.
·       Customers for shipments from China are asked to include their valid contract number on the Booking and Shipping Instructions.

We ask your assistance with full compliance of this new regulation. Should you have any questions or require any further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact your local ZIM agent.
