We would like to advise all our customers that the Japanese Customs Authorities have decided to implement their own version of the 24 hour security manifest.
All cargo loaded on board a vessel to Japan is required to be transmitted to the Japanese Customs Authorities 24 Hours prior to the vessels loading.
When?
The new requirement will be implemented as of March 10th, 2014.
Please note there IS NO GRACE PERIOD.
Any violation of this requirement will immediately results in penalties including the Governments instruction to leave cargo on board the vessel and not be allowed to discharge in Japan.
Who is Responsible?
· The ZIM agent at the Port of Loading (of a vessel which is calling directly to Japanese Port) is responsible to transmit the Master B/L to the Japanese Customs Authorities. Therefore all final documents must be provided to the agent at the POL in a timely manner.
· The NVOCC is responsible to transmit the House B/L directly to the Japanese Customs Authorities.
· The NVOCC must transmit their House B/L on the vessel which will call at the Japanese Ports. In order to obtain this information, pls be in touch with our agents at your Port.
