Bulk charcoal and carbon black (including Petroleum Coke) in a DV Container
This type of Cargo must be properly cooled prior to being packed for shipment. It is highly preferred to stuff the Cargo in bags or Big-Bags instead of in bulk.
1. Dangerous goods (DG) Bulk Charcoal / Carbon Black:
1.1. DG Charcoal (of Mineral origin only)/Carbon Black in bulk, may be accepted only in a Certified Closed Bulk Containers (BK2) Customer Owned Container, as permitted by IMDG Code.
1.2. The customer should provide MSDS, Self-Heating Certificate Test report, BK2 container's Certificate, full Shipment details (in order to verify manufacturing process) and stuffing/un stuffing method.
2. Non-DG Bulk Charcoal / Petroleum Coke (Of mineral origin only) and Carbon Black stuffed in a DV Container:
2.1. The customer should provide MSDS, Self-Heating Certificate Test report, full Shipment details and stuffing/unstuffing method.
2.2. For Carbon Black/Petroleum Coke, the container floor and interior panels must be covered with rigid wooden/plywood lining.
2.3. The Cargo should be stuffed in a Bulk Container Liner, in order to minimize damage and contamination to the container.
2.4. Send photos/videos of stuffing prior and during stuffing.
2.5. Charcoal must not be stuffed into the container if it is wet or hot.
2.6. It is preferred to stuff Cargo using a conveyor belt.
2.7. When stuffing leave at least 30 cm of vacant space between the Cargo and the container ceiling.
